June 2010
Ok i have already secured a couple of remarkable speakers for the June meeting so here are the details:
When: Friday June 25th 7pm
Where: 25 Main Ave Balmoral (usual venue)
Cost: $20
Bring: pen, paper, business card and questions!
To kick off the night we have Lindy Bonnett from Homely Houses presenting. Lindy has been in our group for over six months and has been using some pretty creative rental strategies to create her own income and also give a higher return to her investor property suppliers.
Lindy is an ex-public servant that has done the lot – payroll officer, bistro cook, insurance underwriter, even Tupperware lady, to name a few – and has come out the other end with a wealth of skills that has all combined to create Homely Houses.
Through her Homely Houses business, Lindy began by renting just one little workers cottage in East Brisbane, she furnished and outfitted the house and commenced a journey into a niche accommodation business that she never expected.
Lindy now funds the purchase of one property solely through the business on a rent/buy basis, with plans to add more to her portfolio in the future; she now has 8 properties currently being run by Homely Houses as short term accommodation catering to the corporate and holiday rental markets.
If you are looking for new ways to replace your income, or you have a property that needs a better rental return or just get your head around subletting as an income strategy then Lindy is the person you want to see. Lindy is a great presenter and a very generous person with a lot of value to give so make sure you are in the room when she speaks.
Given its the end of the financial year i thought it was appropriate to have an accountant come along and speak to us. Now this isn’t just any old accountant – John Biggs is Managing Director of Conquest Accounting and specialises in property. I have a lot of respect for John; he is down to earth, has a good sense of humor and really knows how to play the game and create those win-win outcomes.
We all know how crucial an accountant is to have on our team, particularly one that knows the ins and outs of property investing. John actually runs his own property development company, Javlar Constructions and I have asked John to present his current 3 townhouse development as part of the presentation. So you will not only get John the accountant but also John the property developer in showing us his real deal.
I am often asked to recommend a good accountant and i know others in the group will agree with me when i say that John is the ideal person to be managing and advising you on all things accounting. Any property investor will tell you that your accountant can literally save you thousands of dollars on your property deals.
If your accountant isn’t cutting the mustard, now might be the perfect time to investigate other options. Be in the room and benefit from this opportunity. Its your chance to further educate yourself on your own tax affairs, entity structures and managing your portfolio effectively.
All right, enough said – you know the drill. Get in early to reserve your spot. Check out the feedback from previous meetings – for $20 you are getting a ridiculous amount of value so make this meeting a priority in your calendar!
